DemNet Liberia holds discussions on elections-related topics with First-time Voters and Disadvantaged Youth within the Gaye Town Community, Old Road, Sinkor, Monrovia.
The one-day gathering brought together over 65 young people from within and around the Gaye Town Community; discussions were very engaging as it was centered on participants’ understanding of the negative effects of electoral violence and what it means to be peaceful through the electoral cycle especially during the time of political campaigns and on elections day.
Team Leader, Augustine S.M. Tamba used the meeting to stipulate participants’ interests towards peacebuilding efforts and conversations and urged them to say no to violence electoral and yes to peace. These activities are part of our Advancing Youth democratic participation for the 2023 General and Presidential Elections being supported by the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) and Nextier and financed by the U.S. Department of State.
